Talks:

Superpowers for Gatsby with Firebase & Cloud functions - by Richard Moss

So you get your blazing fast and nicely styled Gatsby site all set up and ready for deploy. Then, you realize you need a backend. We often find we suddenly need some backend functionality and it can be complex to implement. Not with Firebase though! In this talk we’ll see how Firebase and Google Cloud Functions make these tasks trivial. The Firebase console comes with out of the box access to realtime auth, realtime document database, storage, hosting and of course cloud functions. By using Gatsby with a combination of these tools we can rapidly add web application style features to our Gatsby site with minimal configuration or maintainance πŸŽ‰

Real-world Gatsbyjs, innovation at speed - by Alex Lobera

Gatsbyjs is a very fast piece of software, and it's fast in many different ways: scalability via CDNs, Progressive Web Apps, prefetching, and more. Gatsbyjs is not only a static site generator for creating static sites, but it can also help teams build complex applications very fast thanks to its modern web tech like React, Webpack, and GraphQL. In our experience, these modern tools enable cross-functional teams to work very fast by facilitating the interaction between design and development. That being said, Gatsbyjs has its limitations and it can’t build any website. In this talk, we'll discuss some projects where Gatsbyjs was used to build the solution, and we'll share the mistakes we made and lessons learned.

Static websites in the era of Headless CMS by David Leuliette

Static sites rebuild on every change, but that’s actually far less often than a classic server-hosted web application (which rebuilds on every request). With a JAMstack you can use JavaScript, APIs, and Markup to deploy fast and secure website. Come learn how to glue together GitHub, Gatsby, Contentful and Netlify.
